Roux ("we", "our", or "the app") is a recipe management app for iOS. Your privacy is important to us. This policy explains what data we collect, how we use it, and your rights.
All your recipes, meal plans, pantry items, shopping lists, and preferences are stored locally on your device using Apple's SwiftData framework. We do not have access to this data, and it is not transmitted to our servers.
If you choose to use your own OpenAI or Anthropic API key, it is stored securely in the device Keychain. Your API key is sent only to the respective AI provider (OpenAI or Anthropic) and is never transmitted to our servers.
If you use the Roux AI feature (available with a Pro or Pro+ subscription), your messages are sent through our proxy server to Anthropic's Claude API. We process these requests in real-time and do not store your conversations. A random device identifier is sent with each request for rate limiting purposes only.
Subscriptions are managed entirely by Apple through the App Store. We do not collect or store your payment information. Apple handles all billing, receipts, and subscription management.
We track monthly AI interaction counts and URL import counts locally on your device to enforce usage limits. This data stays on your device and is not transmitted to us.
When using AI features, your prompts are sent to:
When importing recipes from URLs, we fetch the webpage content to extract recipe data. No browsing history is stored or transmitted beyond the specific URL you provide.
Since all data is stored locally on your device, deleting the app removes all associated data. We do not retain any user data on our servers.
Roux is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect data from children.
We may update this policy from time to time. The updated version will be posted at this URL with a revised date.
